Today, there are more ways than ever to say “family.” Everyday families are now breaking tradition and doing things their own way. - After struggles with infertility, Dawn opted for adoption. Four months adopting daughter, Jerica, Dawn found out she was two months pregnant. Now Dawn says she has the best of everything – 1 biological/1 adopted, 1 boy/1 girl, 1 black/1 white!

- Michael and his partner have been together for 24 years. They have adopted five children over the past 10 years from the Oregon foster care system. Michael says they “are living a dream”!
- Dana is a lesbian mother to five bi-racial children.
- Sonia is Mexican and black, born in Puerto Rico and raised in Hawaii before moving to California. Her husband is Korean and they have 4 children, all of whom will learn to speak Spanish and Korean!
- Dawn and Fabian met online when Fabian was living in Australia (he is from New York). Fabian is a gay male and she is a heterosexual woman. They were both looking to have a child with a platonic co-parent. Now they have a little daughter named Indigo who is 5 months old.
- Laurie was married in 2005 and has two wonderful children. When her daughter turned two months old and her son was 2, Laurie filed for divorce. She has been divorced since June 2010, raising her children primarily alone. Her kids are now six and four and the main focus of her life. Laurie says, “Not what I originally envisioned for my family, but a wonderful MODERN family!”
