Country music is so hot right now! 95 million Americans are country fans, and last year, for the first time ever, five of the top ten best-selling albums were by country artists. Crossover stars like Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood are leading the charge, filling arenas, and hooking a whole new generation of fans.
Nashville is a new primetime drama giving millions of viewers a glimpse at the flip-side of country super-stardom. It’s also giving actress Connie Britton what some have called the role of a lifetime.
“My experience is not that somehow you hit 40 and you get put out to pasture.” -Connie Britton
@katiecouric @nashville_abc Great show! Love Nashville! Connie is great, music is awesome!

In addition to Nashville, Connie Britton has also starred in two other hit TV Shows, Friday Night Lights and American Horror Story. And although she’s taken on some very complicated parts on television, in real life, Connie is taking on an even more demanding role – being a new mom.
“Being a single mom was a little bit of a tricky decision.” -Connie Britton
@katieshow Connie’s the best. Let’s here it for late bloomers. I’m about ready to be repotted… lol — UndrcvrFRIENDMother(@UndrcvrMother) February 13, 2013
Reba is one of the most accomplished performers in the history of country music. Along with Dolly, Willy and Loretta, she’s part of a rare club of country superstars. All you need to do is just mention their first names and everyone knows who you’re talking about. And right now, Reba is making us laugh as the star of the ABC sitcom, Malibu Country.
“I was very, very lucky.” -Reba
@katieshow @reba @malibu_country I watch Reba reruns every night on CMT!Will need therapy if they take it off the air!#needittosurvive — sheila walker (@tweetmcgee) February 13, 2013
Reba’s 2010 hit, “Turn On the Radio,” was her 25th number one single. It also pushed her into a tie with Dolly Parton for the most number ones by a country female artist. Did tying Dolly’s record make that number one song more special for Reba than the rest? And what about her famous soon-to-be daughter-in-law?
“To have my buddy as my daughter-in-law, who could ask for more?” -Reba
Loved watching @reba on @katieshow! She is such an amazing person! Love her!

Chris Young is one of the most talented, dynamic and down-to-earth singer songwriters Nashville has seen in a long time. And judging from the masses of swooning fans, he’s not too hard on the eyes, either.
“It’s pretty wild because my first three singles did horribly.” -Chris Young
@chrisyoungmusic is single? thanks for letting me know @katieshow #needavalentine

After all of this talk about music, Katie decided it was a great time to bring in our tech expert, Brit Morin, to introduce a new iKatie segment called “APP-solutely Fabulous.” Find out some of Brit’s favorite music apps, including our favorite, Spotify.
The fact that @katiecouric ended her show that way made my day better #katie
