Just four years ago, on the icy waters of the Hudson River, Captain Chesley ‘Sully’ Sulleneberger glided his disabled plane to safety, saving the lives of all 155 people on board. Since that fateful day in January of 2009, Captain Sully has become a true American hero.

From appearances at the Super Bowl to dinners at the White House, an average family from Danville, California, suddenly found themselves thrust into the glare of the media spotlight. Sully’s wife, Lorrie, tells us who is in charge of keeping the hero pilot “grounded” at home.

Captain Sully has formed a strong bond with the passengers he saved that day, and 20 of them joined us in the studio to remember the anniversary, including Eric Stevenson.

Captain Sully not only saved 155 lives that day, but has also made 10 new lives possible, so far. Sully meets some of those “miracle” babies for the first time.

Since the miracle on the Hudson, people have written Sully from literally every continent in the world thanking him for saving the lives of people aboard the plane. One of those letters came from Theresa Hunsicker of Shreveport, Louisiana.

The courage Captain Sully showed has inspired people around the globe to perform courageous acts of their own. Matthew Damian Jaquez is a U.S. soldier from Levelland, Texas, who says that it is Sully who helped him survive his last tour in Iraq.
