Sharon & Lexie Love and the Dating Violence Epidemic

University of Virginia college student Yeardley Love was young, bright and athletic. Her brutal murder sent shockwaves across the nation. After two years of grief, Yeardley’s mother and sister spoke out for the first time about her murder.

“She was always laughing.” -Lexie Love

Just two and half weeks before graduation, Yeardley’s body was discovered by her roommate. She had been violently murdered by her former boyfriend George Huguely. They had dated for almost two years before friends said he began showing signs of violent behavior.

“I don’t think she was aware that it was as serious as it was.” -Sharon Love

Next, Quasona Cobb, another victim of dating violence. Her tragic story is almost beyond comprehension.

“I stayed definitely and only because I was scared for my life.” -Quasona Cobb

Quasona managed to escape from her abusive boyfriend, Keith. But it was her mother, Arlene, who became the unexpected victim of his violence.

“The guilt was definitely there.” –Quasona Cobb

@KatieShow

So true, eye-opening RT @bobby_trendz @katieshow I cannot believe Quasona’s ex boyfriend did that to her mother. DV has no boundaries. Scary
