It was one of the most sensational murder cases of the last decade. After knowing each other for only nine days, Amanda Knox and her Italian ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were convicted of brutally murdering her roommate Meredith Kercher. Following four years in prison and an overturned conviction, Raffaele finally broke his silence for the first time on Katie.

“Four years of nightmare.”

Although Raffaele and Amanda’s conviction was eventually overturned, one of the main issues that complicating the trial was the inconsistencies between his and Amanda’s stories. Katie asked Raffaele to set the record straight, including his thoughts on Amanda’s strange behavior following the murder.

“We were the perfect sacrificial lambs.”

Raffaele spent four years in a maximum security prison before being freed. Katie asked what this time was like, and how often he kept in touch with Amanda.

“It was impossible to bear.”

Raffaele told Katie that knew he was “risking his life” for this girl he had only known for nine days. And despite pleas from his friends and families, he never turned on her during the murder trial. But looking back, does he regret meeting her?

“I don’t regret it.”
