Millions of graduates are coming out of college and grad school with serious student loan debt and no promise of a job. Going to college has become a part of “The American Dream.” But for how many is this dream working in reality? Today’s Katie takes on a topic I’ve been itching to tackle: is college really worth it? I discuss this question and the high price of higher education with people who say yay, those who vote nay and others who think there are better options for us and our kids. I attended the University of Virginia (wahoowa, by the way!) and had a great experience — but when I graduated in 1979, the tuition was less than $1,000 a year. Do you think college today is just a big party with a massive price tag? Is college worth it? What route did you take and what advice would you give college- or career-age kids?
