Hollywood Trainer Jeanette Jenkins Shares Alicia Keys Workout Tips

On our Thanksgiving Eve episode, Katie joins guest Alicia Keys for a workout with the singer’s personal trainer Jeanette Jenkins. Sure Katie’s in shape — you’ve seen her guns! — but can she keep up with Alicia and Jeanette? See for yourself:

Jeanette takes a quick break from keeping Hollywood’s hottest bods in tip-top shape to share some of Alicia’s favorite workout moves, plus she gives us some tips to keep in mind after that second (gulp, or third) helping of the Barefoot Contessa’s maple pecan pie

Double Knee, Jump Kick, Back Kick

As you saw on the show, Alicia loves kickboxing right now so this first move is a kickboxing combo which tones the butt, thighs and abs! It also boosts your metabolic rate and burns lots of calories.

Plié Squat with Overhead Tricep Extension

The second exercise is a sculpting move to tone the butt, thighs, upper back, arms and abs.

Pigeon

Alicia really enjoys yoga, so we finish up a workout with this hip opener that stretches all of the external rotators of the hip. This move helps decrease hip and lower back tightness, while also lowering your risk of lower back pain and sciatica.

Jeanette’s 5 Tips To Stay in Shape Over the Holidays:

1. Get your workout in first thing in the morning to boost your metabolism, burn calories and start your day with a positive attitude.
2. Do something active with your family: dancing, touch football or a power walk!
3. Eat a healthy meal before you go to holiday parties.
4. Drink half your body weight in ounces of water. If you weigh 150 pounds you should be drinking 75 ounces of water and so on.
5. Really enjoy the holidays because this time feeds the soul and the spirit. Stop working (put the iPhone/Blackberry down!) and enjoy your friends and family.
